چکیده

Abstract Background Pain in osteoarthritis (OA) has been attributed traditionally to local tissue injury causing ‘nociceptive pain’. However, recent studies suggest that neuropathic and central sensitization mechanisms may contribute the pain experience. relationship between these physical function not thoroughly addressed. This study aimed assess association of with knee OA. Results Participants a positive inventory score (CSI) (≥ 40) had decreased total Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) its subscales ( p < 0.001), longer timed up go test time = 0.002) higher PainDETECT questionnaire (PD-Q) visual analogue scale 0.001, 0.026 respectively). The severity Kellgren-Lawrence grading (KL) depressive anxiety symptoms 0.001) increased severity. In addition, participants high PD-Q 19) KOOS 0.001). Moreover, we found CSI score, KL were significantly predicted 0.046, 0.007, Regarding predictors, multivariate linear regression analysis revealed pressure threshold at right elbow 0.005, addition P associated while Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale not. Conclusion OA patients significant reported pain, more functional impairment, than without pain. Additionally, presence predictors for ability.

Central sensitization pain should be included in (central) neuropathic pain.

Dr. Nijs et al (1) provided criteria for the classification of central sensitization (CS) pain. Peripheral neuro-pathic pain and nociceptive pain cause CS in the central nervous system if the 2 kinds of pain persist. Therefore, pure peripheral neuropathic pain and pure nociceptive pain are rare in clinical practice. I believe that CS is one of causes of central neuropathic pain. CS pain may be ...

Sleep, Pain Catastrophizing, and Central Sensitization in Knee Osteoarthritis Patients With and Without Insomnia.

OBJECTIVE Osteoarthritis (OA), a chronic degenerative joint disorder, is characterized by joint pain. Emerging research demonstrates that a significant number of patients evidence central sensitization (CS), a hyperexcitability in nociceptive pathways, which is known to amplify and maintain clinical pain. The clinical correlates of CS in OA, however, are poorly understood. Insomnia is prevalent...

Cannabinoid CB2 Receptors Regulate Central Sensitization and Pain Responses Associated with Osteoarthritis of the Knee Joint

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the joint is a prevalent disease accompanied by chronic, debilitating pain. Recent clinical evidence has demonstrated that central sensitization contributes to OA pain. An improved understanding of how OA joint pathology impacts upon the central processing of pain is crucial for the identification of novel analgesic targets/new therapeutic strategies. Inhibitory cannabino...
